Richmond Cycling Corps headquarters riding up to Church Hill

Everything that we have built in the last six years will be available to our youth 24/7…just 1/4 mile from home.

From Facebook:

RCC’s New World Headquarters will be located at 2123 Fairmont Avenue, in Church Hill, only 6.5 blocks from the majority of our youth. WE BOUGHT A BUILDING!!!

More importantly, we have bought a stake in the very community we are working to empower.

We searched for the closest commercial building to our youth, and 2123 Fairmont was it. Literally, this is as close as we can possibly locate ourselves to public housing, and all of the youth we work with. The work that we do, and the way that we do it — we are always on call– demands that we be a constant presence.

Everything that we have built in the last six years will be available to our youth 24/7…just 1/4 mile from home. Greater accessibility, less distance, and heightened efficacy are keystone ingredients to our style of pivot-on-a-dime case-management.
Why do we do this? Why move shop? Last night, as is the case many nights, RCC was called in by guardians to track down three youth who had left their houses (awol) and were roaming the city late at night. They were returned home in the RCC Suburban by Craig at 4am after hours of exhaustive searching. They were looking for somewhere to be, and ultimately, they were in need of RCC to take responsibility for them (or at least act as a safe ride home).

2123 Fairmount is a place our youth can be. It is close to public housing, but it is not public housing. It is a foothold in the real world. Can’t Stop Won’t Stop? You bet. Hitting closer to home than ever before. We’re moving in!

This is only the beginning. Join the ride with us.
