Richmond Boys Choir kicks off annual holiday shoe drive at Saxon Shoes

The collection, now in its 23rd year, provides shoes to families in need in the Richmond area through the Salvation Army.

One of the largest locally-owned shoe stores in Richmond kicked off an annual holiday tradition in style this past weekend. On Saturday, the Richmond Boys Choir performed to help Saxon Shoes officially kick off their 23rd annual Shoes for the Needy collection to benefit area families in need.

Saxon will accept donations of new or gently-used shoes from the public through December 24th at Saxon Shoes at Short Pump Town Center. The collected shoes will be presented to The Salvation Army Adult Rehab Center in Richmond and The Salvation Army in Fredericksburg.

The store encourages participation from both individuals and families, as well as groups from schools, churches, businesses, and other organizations. Entities can register online and receive mentions of participation by Saxon, as well as promotional materials to help with their collection.

“This Saxon shoe collection is to help those that don’t have shoes to put on their feet…it’s a real blessing to be able to have people come and donate really good shoes so that we can get them to the people that need shoes,” said Guy Nickums with The Salvation Army Adult Rehab Center.
