Favored to win by eight points, VCU struggled to beat Georgia State, again. This time it went into overtime. In Atlanta on Wednesday night the Rams defeated the home-standing Panthers: VCU 65, Georgia St. 60.
On Jan. 10, playing at the Siegel Center, VCU survived a similar scare from Georgia St., to win by two points. Why the Rams can’t handle the Panthers is a good question. VCU (17-5, 10-2 in CAA) is on top of the Colonial Athletic Association standings, Georgia St. (6-15, 3-9 in CAA) is a bottom feeder.
No doubt, Rams head coach Anthony Grant doesn’t want to see Georgia St. again in the CAA tournament next month at the Richmond Coliseum.
Across town at the Robins Center, tonight, Richmond stopped Temple, 64-58.
