From VCU’s Chris Kowalczyk:

Bradford Burgess and Terrance Saintil have signed National Letters of Intent to join VCU next season, Rams head coach Anthony Grant announced Tuesday. Both have already won state championships during their high school careers and carry with them the pedigree Grant looks for in his recruits.

“Both Terrance and Bradford exemplify what we are looking for here at VCU in a student-athlete,” said Grant. “Both come to us from very successful high school programs and understand what it takes to achieve on and off the court. We feel like we have addressed our needs for the early signing period and look forward to making them a part of our community for years to come.”

Burgess is a 6-5, 200-pound shooting guard who is coming off an outstanding summer with Boo Williams’ AAU squad. As a junior, Burgess served as a pivotal member of a Benedictine team that went 29-3 and captured a state championship. This year, Burgess’ Benedictine team enters the season ranked 44th nationally by Rivals.com.

A 6-7, 225-pound power forward, Saintil has also had a history of winning throughout his high school career. Last season Saintil helped lead Monsignor Pace to a Florida 4A State Championship. His 2007-2008 Pace squad is listed 45th in Rivals.com’s preseason rankings.

Described by high school coach Mark Lieberman as a “Ben Wallace-type”, Saintil has received high praise from several recruiting services.

“He’ll be physically ready to come in and play,” said Dave Telep, Scout.com’s national basketball recruiting director told the Richmond Times-Dispatch. “This is a guy with winning in his background [who] should compliment the different styles of kids already in the program. Saintil is a block player capable of owning his area and running the floor.”
