Daniel N. Berlinerman must have gulped, rolling down Interstate 64 Tuesday afternoon on his way home to Newport News. Police say he had just robbed the Village Bank on Willow Lawn Drive.
As Berlinerman approached the Laburnum Avenue exit, as many as a dozen Henrico County patrol cars waited in emergency lanes, covering exits and spaced about a tenth of a mile apart.
And in his rearview mirror, Berlinerman may have seen officer R.M. Shrewsbury close behind.
