The October 3, 2008 VSBA Leadership Conference in Charlottesville was about promoting 21st century learning in the classroom. The focus of the conference was 21st century living and working skills. After taking a look at the big picture, presenters discussed what is happening in education on the state and local level to prepare Virginia’s students for a better quality of life in the 21st century. Petersburg City Public Schools Board representatives Kenneth L. Pritchett, Steven L. Pierce Sr., Dr. Kenneth W. Lewis, Fred B. Wilson Sr. and Superintendent of Petersburg City Public Schools Dr. James M. Victory attended and earned six points of VSBA Academy credit for their attendance.

The VSBA is a non-partisan organization that promotes quality education through its services for local school boards. The mission of the VSBA is to provide member boards with services, training and advocacy so that they may exercise effective leadership in public school governance on behalf of public education for all the children of the Commonwealth.
