In order to serve parents of school age children, the Petersburg Health Department (301 Halifax Street) will hold special immunization clinics on Tuesday, August 26 and Tuesday, September 2, from 8:30am until 7:00pm. These are walk-in clinics — no appointment is necessary. These clinics will help parents make sure that their child has all of the necessary immunizations that are required for school entry. The Health Department also holds regular immunization clinics every Tuesday, from 1:00pm until 3:30pm.
Parents should be aware that the Virginia Department of Health requires an up to date immunization record for all children who will be entering school for the first time. In addition, children entering sixth grade are required to receive a single booster immunization against tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough). Parents must bring their child’s immunization record to the clinic. For more information, call the Petersburg Health Department at 862-8997.
