1) Rest-of-season highlights

The Generals are rounding out the first half of the 2008 season, and want to thank the support that fans have showed this summer.

During the first six weeks of this season, the Generals have had little league Wednesdays, NFL stars, Go Green Night, and one rainy Military Appreciation Night.

We hope that you have had great experiences, and created great memories at the Petersburg Sports Complex, while supporting your hometown Generals.

We are almost halfway through our season, and there are some exciting promotions on tap through August.

For this week, we have:

*Thursday, June 26, bring out your honor roll student, who will get into the game for just one dollar, and will be announced during the game. The Generals support local students doing well in school, and hope that your student can participate in Honor Roll Night.

*Saturday, June 28 will be College Night. All students with college ID get into the game for one dollar, and there will be giveaways of college gear and memorabilia provided by some of your favorite schools around the state. The Generals will also honor Virginia Tech and Northern Illinois, as those universities have faced tragedy in recent years.

The rest of the season will welcome everybody from babies to dogs to the ballpark.

Baby’€™s first ballgame is on Monday, July 14. Bring your tot to the sports complex for free, and enjoy giveaways from area businesses, and baby-friendly contests.

The Petersburg Generals’€™ first Dog Day Afternoon will take place on Sunday, July 27. Dog Day Afternoon will give fans the chance to bring their favorite four-legged friend to the sports complex for free dog biscuits, contests, and information tables to include Petsmart and local SPCA chapters.

The Generals are honored to show our support for the men and women who defend our country. The second Military Appreciation Night is Saturday, July 12, with post-game fireworks. All military and Fort Lee personnel get into the game for free.

We hope that you will continue to show your support for the Petersburg Generals this summer.

2) Post-game meals sought

The Petersburg Generals are about halfway through their season, and we still need postgame meals! Anybody who owns a restaurant, or just would like to take part in feeding our players should help us out by providing a postgame meal. We are responsible for feeding both teams after our home games, which comes out to about 60 people. Help the Generals by providing some good food after their home games! For more information, call Delilah Anders at (804) 722-0141.
