Pedestrian struck by car dies from injuries sustained in crash

The tragedy marks the second pedestrian death on the same roadway in Henrico County in a week.

For the second time in a week, a pedestrian has been struck and killed in the West End on the same route.

On Saturday, August 2nd, 2014 around 1:50 AM, Henrico Police responded to the intersection of Mountain Road and New York Avenue. A male victim was found lying in the roadway in the 1500 Block of Mountain Road. A Nissan Maxima, driven by an adult female, was traveling eastbound when her vehicle struck the victim.

The victim was transported to VCU Medical Center according to police. The victim died at VCU Medical Center as a result of his injures yesterday, August 5th.

Members of the Henrico Police Crash Team are continuing their investigation. Officers have received information that the victim may have fallen into the roadway after he had been sitting in the back of a pick-up truck, prior to being struck by the Nissan Maxima. At this time, no charges have been placed.

The victim was identified as 21-year-old Tre’von G. Mayfield of the 900 block of Pump Road in Short Pump.
