After more than a year of work, the city’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities has released a draft Master Plan — and the city is seeking public comment on the plan.

There will be a series of public meetings in late September and early October for Richmond residents to review and weigh in on the draft document, and the document itself is available for download as a PDF at the Parks and Rec website.

The Department began working on a Master Plan in April 2007 to guide it through the next 10 years. A draft of the plan has now been completed based on information collected from an assessment of the Department’s parks, facilities and services, focus group meetings, and a statistically valid survey of Richmond households. As a final step before presenting the plan to City Council for adoption, the Department wants to provide citizens with the opportunity to review the draft and provide comments and additional input.

The upcoming public sessions are open to the public, and are scheduled to last about an hour (North Richmond locations are in bold type):
