WWBT 12 News reports that neighborhoods in North Richmond are on alert because of a suspicious door-to-door salesman claiming to be from ADT security:

No one knows for sure if this is a scam, not even police. An ADT spokesperson says their employees don’t normally go door to door. According to residents in the Laburnum Park area, these early evening visits have been going on for months.

A knock on Sterling Severns’ door last Saturday night gave him chills.

Severns says, “It was a really nice looking kid, seemed nice enough fellow. But, it was just obvious to me that something wasn’t right. Why would a security company come out after dark, ringing a doorbell which is really insensitive for a family with kids.”

Severns never opened his door to the caller and eventually sent out an email alerting his neighbors. Many of them replied back that it’s happened to them.
