Venture Richmond announced today that the statue of President Lincoln and his son Tad, located at Richmond National Battlefield Park’s main visitor center at Tredegar Iron Works, has been selected to represent the Mid-Atlantic Region in the 2009 “Passport to Your National Parks” stamp set.
Abraham Lincoln’s 200th birthday is being commemorated in 2009. Information on more events around Richmond honoring President Lincoln coming soon!
The 2009 stamp set is now available, and can be purchased at any Richmond National Battlefield Park or Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site visitor center. The cost for the stamp set is $3.95. The extremely popular Passport program, first established in 1986, allows national park visitors to collect rubber-stamp ink cancellations when they visit national parks, as well as the annual full-color commemorative stamps, and place them inside a Passport book as a record of their travels. For more information about the “Passport to Your National Parks” program, go to Eastern National’s web site at www.easternnational.org.
