New barbershop coming to the Fan

“It’s going to have all the comforts of grandpa’s (barbershop) with all the conveniences of the new trends.”

Currently there are two traditional style barbershops in the fan Refuge and Main Street Barber but a trio of men feel there’s room for one more and plan to open High Point Barbershop & Shave Parlor. They currently are operating out of a chair in Shockoe Denim and are taking appointments at the previous link.

Richmond BizSense.com has the details.

High Point Barbershop & Shave Parlor is moving into 112 N. Meadow St. and is set to open this summer. Barbers Elliott Kinney, David Foster and Jacky Flav will man the shop’s four chairs, giving haircuts, straight razor shaves and beard trims.

“It’s going to have all the comforts of grandpa’s (barbershop) with all the conveniences of the new trends,” Kinney said.

They’re launching the business along with two other co-owners, Darren Brown and Brian Mahaffy. Mahaffy signed the three-year lease for the 1,000-square-foot space in April.

High Point started with Flav working out of Shockoe Denim in the Bottom, where the manufacturer and retailer lets barbers wield their blades.

  2. This is exciting. It is so difficult to get a good shave in Richmond. And the location is so convenient!
