The winners of the Firehouse Theatre’s 2007 Playwriting Contest have been selected. Two finalists, chosen by a distinguished panel of judges, have been tapped from more than 150 scripts received from across the country. They are:

  • Richard Willett, for his script “Tiny Bubbles”
  • Jon Busch, for “Pet Shop Days”

Both plays will be presented on alternating nights during the Firehouse Theatre’s Sixth Annual Festival of New American Plays, Thurs. – Sun., Jan. 17 – 20. As always, tickets are affordable, and everyone who sees both plays may vote for the winning script! A truly democratic event. Come and vote for your favorite.

“Tiny Bubbles” — Thurs., Jan. 17, & Sat., Jan. 19

“Pet Shop Days” — Fri., Jan. 18, & Sun., Jan. 20.

 

Tickets: Suggested donation $5 each play at the door, students with valid ID are free. All shows are at 7:30 p.m.

The Firehouse Theatre Project, a non-profit theatre company, was founded in 1993 to present important contemporary American theatre pieces with an emphasis on plays not previously produced in the metropolitan Richmond area. The company, which is under the direction of Carol Piersol, Founding Artistic Director, is housed in the former Richmond Fire Station No. 10 at 1609 W. Broad St.
