Chesterfield County has recently experienced an increase in vehicle thefts. The vehicles that are being targeted have been left idling unattended. These vehicles are easily stolen. Whether the vehicle is in a driveway or in front of a store, your vehicle can be stolen within a few seconds. Below are a few crime prevention tips that can help prevent you from becoming a victim of a stolen vehicle.
- Don’t leave your car running, even for a minute– convenience stores, gas stations, and ATMs are common hunting grounds for thieves,and cars left running to warm up on cold mornings are easy prey
- Always lock your car
- Do not leave your keys in the vehicle
- park in well-lighted areas
