In Vino Veritas headed to Zed’s Cafe on Lakeside Avenue as part of Richmond Restaurant Week in late October. They gave North Side’s hidden gem a thumb’s up:
our second experience in restaurant week eating was at zed’s. a modern but comfortable little restaurant on lakeside. we got there later than expected but were welcomed in even though the time said (on the door) they were getting ready to close.
we had two excellent starters – a simple but superb organic potato soup. a lot of the potato soup typically served (to me) are a cream base – and i love those – this was not. it had a hearty potato taste not obscured by cream or other flavoring. we also had the beet salad – organic (victory farms, go charlie!) greens and beets lightly covered with a simple vinaigrette, walnuts and goat cheese.
