The Historic Petersburg Foundation (HPF) has a limited number of its 250 tickets left for sale for its sixth annual Ball in the Burg. This year’s theme is “The Crystal Ball: Sparkle, Shimmer, Twinkle, Shine. . .Gaze Into Another Time.” The deadline for purchasing tickets is Friday, February 20. Anyone interested in attending is strongly urged to purchase tickets as soon as possible, as this event has sold out every year.

The ball will take place Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Petersburg Regional Art Center on Sycamore Street in Old Towne. Tickets are $95 per person, which includes a catered dinner, open bar, nine-piece big band entertainment and a live and silent auction. This year’s theme lends itself to costumes surrounding the popular Harry Potter series, as well as general wizardry, witches and fortune telling.

Guests are invited to come in classic black tie or in costume. Prizes will be given for the best costume.

Sponsorship opportunities for the ball are also still available. Call HPF to learn how to become an event sponsor, advertise in the event program or make a donation for the live or silent auction. Top-level sponsors receive 12 tickets or a whole table, which is the best way to guarantee getting tickets to this always-sold-out event and to ensure being seated with exactly whom you want. It is also an excellent way to help support HPF’s mission.

Auction items already donated to the event include a progressive dinner for 10 in historic properties in Old Towne, a weekend at a NC beach house, an official 2009 inauguration invitation and items, and a Civil War tour and dig. All items will be sold at the event.

HPF is dedicated to the preservation and revitalization of Petersburg. For more information on HPF, the ball or for membership opportunities, call (804) 732-2096 or visit www.historicpetersburg.org.
