Lamplighter gets a second home, Can Can hosts a whiskey dinner, and what’s up with 525?

A new small plate restaurant opens near Centerstage, another one simply named ‘Lunch’ inches closer to opening by filing for an ABC license, and Can Can drops their French predilections for just one night to host an American whiskey dinner.

The big buzz this week is around 525 at the Berry Burke. This will be the second small plate-focused restaurant to hit the East Grace corridor near Centerstage. Prior to Pasture opening, if you wanted to see a performance at Centerstage, the option to grab dinner and drinks before or after your night out, well…wasn’t really an option. Pasture opened right at the end of November and is still the place everyone is talking about. The new restaurant, 525 at the Berry Burke, will be located at the bottom of the Berry Burke building which has been transformed into luxury condos and apartments at the corner of East Grace and 6th. Tom Haas and Taylor Hasty are the two guys behind the restaurant–they both have chef and front of the house experience. According to an interview with Richmond.com, the menu will have “enough unique items to satisfy any foodie, while not alienating the casual diner.” They hope to open in April.

Scott’s Addition could be getting a new restaurant and bar. According to West of the Boulevard News, a new space at 1213 Summit Avenue, simply named Lunch, applied for their ABC license this week. It looks like Rick Lyons, who used to be part owner Banditos and got The Republic up and running, is the owner. We’ll keep you posted on developments and, of course, any menus that come out.

Food and brews might be on the way for Scott’s Addition, but the area also has a fantastic local coffee shop up and running right NOW. Lamplighter’s second coffee shop, Kickstand, is now open at 1717 Summit Avenue. They are open Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 1:00pm offering up individual pour-overs, Chemex for 2-4 people/cups, hot tea, homemade ginger ale, and a selection of fresh pastries. They’re cash only at the moment, so prepare your wallet and check it out!

Can Can has an AWESOME dinner coming up a week from today, February 9th. Beginning at 6:30pm, they will host an American Whiskey Dinner: a four-course meal paired with feature bourbons and whiskeys for only $45. Pretty awesome deal. If you want to go, you should call quickly because tickets are going fast. Check out the menu here (PDF).
