The Richmond Times-Dispatch is reporting that Del. Dwight Jones has received the endorsement of the 52-year-old Richmond Crusade for Voters. The vote took place Tuesday night.

Jones said in a statement today.

“I look forward to working with them as mayor of Richmond to ensure Richmond has a world-class education system, better mass transit for our citizens to get to and from work, and better care for our senior citizens.”

In picking Jones, the Crusade did not select Robert Grey, a past president of the organization. No doubt, some observers will interpret this move as a snub to Mayor Doug Wilder.
