Celebrate Spring with a Concert for Peace! Join the Richmond Peace Education Center for an evening of music and social commentary. Folksinger John McCutcheon will present a benefit concert on Fri., May 2 at the VCU Singleton Center for the Performing Arts, 922 Park Ave. at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds from the performance will support the programs of the Richmond Peace Education Center.

John McCutcheon is an internationally acclaimed musician and composer. He has recorded more than thirty albums and has been nominated for six Grammy awards.  McCutcheon is the author of children’s books and essays, and is a long-time activist for peace and social justice.  His most recent recording is entitled “This Fire:  Politics, Love and Other Small Miracles.”

McCutcheon’s performances appeal to audiences of all ages. His songs and stories offer commentaries on contemporary politics and society—both humorous and serious. McCutcheon accompanies himself on guitar, banjo, piano, autoharp, fiddle and even the nyckelharpa, a Swedish hurdy-gurdy. His performances on  the hammered dulcimer are one of the highlights of a John McCutcheon show.

Tickets for the concert are $20 for adults, $8 for students, and a maximum of $50 per family. To purchase or reserve tickets, visit the web site, email tickets@rpec.org, or call the offices of the Richmond Peace Education Center at 232-1002. Tickets will also be available at the door.
