Jazz/folk musician Narissa Bond to perform at Minerva Books for Friday for the Arts

Narissa Bond

Narissa Bond will perform at Minerva Books at 233 Bartow Alley, Petersburg July 11th at 8pm. The recipient of a Kansas Arts Commission fellowship, Bond has opened for national touring artists Richard Shindell, Lucy Kaplansky, Nina Gerber, L.J. Booth, Vance Gilbert and Ulali.

She has performed at festivals and benefits including the National Women’s Music Festival in Bloomington, Indiana; Campfest in Pennsylvania; Gea Gathering in Kansas; WOW Cabaret in New York; Pride Festival in St. Louis, Missouri; NOW Mid-Atlantic Conference in Virginia Beach and the Peace through Unity Conference in Richmond.

Bond’s original song “Celia,” based on the true story of a slave girl, won first place in its category at the prestigious Winfield Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas. She was additionally featured in the 2007 book I Got Thunder: Black Women Songwriters On Their Craft alongside such seminal artists as Chaka Khan and Joan Armatrading. Her 2008 CD release is Three Words.
