Intersection of Cox and Nuckols Roads back open

Structural repairs to the Innsbrook intersection caused major delays for commuters and students Tuesday morning.

A busy Innsbrook intersection is back open this morning following a messy roadway situation that snarled traffic on the first day of school yesterday.

Henrico County Department of Public Works was finishing what they called “structural repairs” to Cox Road near its intersection with Nuckols Road Tuesday morning.

The result was a 4.5 mile backup on Interstate 295 leading into the area and causing some students to be more than 45 minutes late to class on their first day.

Officials say the detours which were put in place were overcome with rush hour and school traffic, causing major delays.
