Richmonders can find many opportunities this weekend to answer President-elect Obama’s call to service.

If you are lucky enough to have the day off from work on Martin Luther King Day, why not head out to Ancarrow’s Landing and volunteer your time? The Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities is sponsoring a park cleanup.

The event will be held Monday, January 19, 9 am to noon. James River Park System’s Ancarrow’s Landing is located on the south side of the river, at the east end of Maury Street.

Volunteers should dress appropriate for the weather, wear sturdy work shoes and work gloves. They will be spreading woodchips and picking up litter.
