Improved Bacon Festival at the 17th Street Farmers’ Market

Mmmmmmmmm bacon.

By all accounts last years Bacon Festival was a victim of its’ own success. Insane crowds, long lines and vendors running out of food well before the festival wrapped up. With those troubles fresh in orgznizers minds they’ve made changes to try and address the issue.

In order to accommodate Richmond’s impeccable taste for all things bacon, the festival layout has been expanded for 2014. There will be two entrances to the festival along 17th Street, one at Main Street and one at Grace Street. The venue will encompass the area around the farmers market, and will stretch north to Grace and Ambler Streets and west to 18th Street.

More than 40 Richmond restaurants and food trucks will bring their creative minds to this event, each one offering their own favorite bacon-centric dishes. Sample everything from bacon cheeseburger sliders, bacon-infused mac- n-cheese, bacon empanadas, bacon & cheese fritters and bacon corn muffins to candied bacon, bacon croissants, bacon ice pops, chocolate-covered bacon and maple-bacon lattes!

The Richmond Bacon Festival is a Taste-the-Local event, presented by Devils Backbone Brewing Company and the 17th Street Farmers’ Market. This event will be held Sunday June 8, 2014 from 11am until 5pm. It is free and open to the public. Proceeds benefit the Enrichmond Foundation.
