North Richmond’s Imperial Plaza retirement community recently honored Martha Franklin, a 34-year resident of the facility and a longtime volunteer, as an Outstanding Resident and designated March 4 as Martha Franklin Day. Franklin’s volunteer efforts at Imperial Plaza have been wide-ranging, but for more than 30 years she has focused her energy on the Residents’ Library with its thousands of books, tapes, videos and magazines.
