Crash a virtual comet into Jupiter. Arrange star clusters from youngest to oldest. Explore black holes, galaxies, and planets through the lens of the Hubble Space Telescope.

It’s all at the visiting exhibition Hubble Space Telescope: New Views of the Universe at the Science Museum of Virginia Saturday, July 12-Sunday, October 26.

“I’m excited about this exhibit,” says Science Museum of Virginia Museum Scientist David Hagan. “The Hubble Space Telescope has taught us so much about the cosmos. It has allowed us to see 13 billion years back in time. We have seen nurseries where stars are born. The images we now have from Hubble are astonishing and breathtaking in their beauty.”

Hubble Space Telescope: New Views of the Universe features interactive displays highlighting Hubble’s discoveries and contributions to astronomy. Match before and after images of colliding galaxies. Watch video of the Shoemaker-Levy comet smashing into Jupiter. See images from the Hubble of planets, galaxies, and black holes. Take infrared pictures of your hand.

Hubble Space Telescope: New Views of the Universe is organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service and the Space Telescope Science Institute. It is operated for NASA by the Association of the Universities for Research in Astronomy Inc. The exhibition is made possible through the support of the NASA offices of Space Science and Education in Washington , D.C. and Lockheed Martin, Bethesda , Maryland .

Hubble Space Telescope: New Views of the Universe is included with exhibit admission. Tickets are $9 for youth ages 4-12, seniors 60+ and active military and $10 for adults 13-59. Science Museum exhibits are open Monday-Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sunday, 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
