HPF Announces New Officers and Trustees, Presents Annual Awards

The Historic Petersburg Foundation, Inc. announced its new officers and trustees to the board at its annual meeting on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at the Pathways building on West Washington Street. Officers for the 2008-2009 fiscal year are: Larry Tucker, President; Guy Becker, III, First Vice President; Patty Pritchett, Second Vice President; Ann Morriss, Secretary; and LTC Garland Tompkins, Treasurer.

The following trustees were elected to serve 3 year terms: Joseph Battiston, Charles Cuthbert, Jr., Suzanne DuBois, Benjamin Greenbaum, Kitty Gwaltney, David Primeaux, Beverly Rivers and Garland Tompkins.

At the meeting HPF’s 2008 Preservation Award winners were also presented. Volunteer of the Year Award was given to Walter “B” Brown, III. Governmental/Public Servant Awards went to Anne Thomas and Dawn Holmes. Craftsman/Artisan Award went to Gilery Entzminger, AIA.

Additionally, Architectural Restoration Awards were given to the following for restoring historic structures: Christine Hunt, 138 Liberty Street; Terry Ammons & Ann Adams, 109 West Bank Street; David McCormack, Jr. and Tony Collins, 250 East Bank Street (Mayton Transfer Lofts); and David and Nancy Primeaux, 515 West Washington Street.

Sustaining Preservationist of the Year Award was given to Charles DuBois. Preservationist of the Year Award was given to Bob Kennedy. Special Achievement Award was given to the 2008 Ball in the ‘Burg Committee: Larry Tucker, Toni Clark, Ella Dickinson, JoAnn DuBois, Belinda Falconer, Cynthia Haynie, Brenda Irvin, Ann Morriss, Howard Myers, Patty Pritchett and Frannie Rawlings.

HPF is a 41-year-old non-profit organization dedicated to serving as a catalyst in the preservation and development of Petersburg’s historic neighborhoods and commercial areas and promoting widespread knowledge of the city’s unique architectural and historical heritage.
