The first ever competitive, collegiate build in the history of Habitat for Humanity will take place here in Richmond when the Commonwealth’s most intense rivalry goes hardhat to hardhat in a race to see whether Virginia Tech or the University of Virginia will raise more money and volunteers to build a house for Richmond Habitat this fall.
The Hokies vs. Hoos Habitat Challenge launches on Saturday, August 25 at 1:00 pm with a hardhat construction competition and press event in the parking lot of Bandito’s Burrito Lounge. A team of volunteers from Virginia Tech and U.Va. will compete to build two miniature Habitat houses to launch the fundraising contest. The challenge continues with a “Raise the Roof” fundraising event from 2:00 – 5:00 pm inside Bandito’s Burrito Lounge. Both clubs invite friends, family, and colleagues to enjoy drink specials, raffle prizes, a silent auction and competitive games, all to support their school and Habitat!
