Historic East End African American cemetery vandalized
Police may increase patrols in the area.
According to a story on 8News, a handful of headstones, some dating back over 100 years, have been damaged by unknown vandals.
From the article:
Two headstones are smashed down the middle and two bigger ones knocked over…The volunteers say they’ve been at the cemetery enough to know what normal wear and tear is and what’s not. Someone would have to come in on purpose and knock over the massive and heavy headstone.
The article states that the cemetery is owned by the East End Burial Association. The organization appears to have no website, Facebook account, or online presence of any kind.
