Henrico Police on hunt for carjacking, bank robbery suspect

Authorities believe two incidents are related; no reports of injuries

Henrico Police are on the hunt for a suspect who went on a crime spree Tuesday afternoon. An unidentified male carjacked a woman at the Arby’s on Quioccasin Road near Regency Square Mall early Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say they believe the same suspect then held up the Franklin Federal Savings Bank branch in the Village Shopping Center just before 1:30 PM. The bank branch is located near the intersection of Patterson Avenue and Three Chopt Road, approximately three miles away from the site of the carjacking.

A short time after the bank robbery, police recovered the vehicle associated with the two crimes at Ripley and Stuary Avenues, but the suspect had fled. WTVR reports that K9 units and a plane are being used in their search.

There were no reports of injuries.

Two nearby schools, St. Christoper’s and St. Catherine’s, are on lockdown while the manhunt continues.

Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 804.780.1000.
