Help open a pie shop in Jackson Ward

Local Pie Company is moving into Jackson Ward.

A pie shop plans to open in the heart of Jackson Ward, but they are looking for your help. The Local Pie Company has launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise $40,000 to open the pie and coffee shop at 516 N. 2nd Street. Founder and entriPIEneur Alicia Neumann is a Virginia native and has been making pies since 2012. She hopes that she can connect local farmers to the community and also provide a space for artists and musicians to display their work in the shop.

From the Local Pie Company:

In order to get the doors open, we need to raise $40,000 to help with costs associated with completing the construction on our 1,100 sq ft space and purchasing equipment and fixtures. Our budget breaks down like this:

• $15,000 for construction: Most of the big ticket items are done (plumbing, electrical, fire safety), we just need to put the finishing touches on the space including paint, drywall, trim and flooring.
• $15,000 for equipment: This is for ovens, refrigerators and freezers. We are already working with a kitchen equipment reseller and are ready to go!
• $10,000 for furniture: Including counter tops, tables, chairs as well as finishes such as bathroom fixtures and lighting.
