Ginter Park will host one of many campouts nationwide as part of the National Wildlife Federation’s Great American Backyard Campout, according to Ginter Park Baptist Church (which will host the local event on June 28):

Go camping with your friends in Richmond’s GinterPark neighborhood. On Saturday night, June 28, 2008, the National Wildlife Federation presents the Great American Backyard Campout at Ginter Park Baptist Church. Come join us for a night of camping, outdoor and nature activities, food, and a whole lot of fun. The fun starts at 4 p.m. Saturday and goes through an outdoor worship service at 8 a.m. Sunday morning.

Activities will include things like stargazing and flashlight tag, cooking hot dogs and S’mores on the grills, singing campfire songs, wildlife activities, and more. If you don’t want to spend the night, then join us for Saturday evening’s activities. The event is free. Bring your own tent, sleeping bags, and other equipment. We’ll have grills on site for cooking your own meals, and will offer hot dogs and S’mores for everyone.

E-mail elidholm@juno.com for more information, or call the church office at 359-2475.
