Golfsmith tees off today in West Broad Village

Nation’s largest golfing retailer opens 24,000-square-foot store today in Short Pump

Golfsmith, the nation’s largest golf retailer, opens today in West Broad Village, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The Austin, Texas-based chain has just over 100 locations and specializes in golfing equipment and apparel. The Short Pump store will be Golfsmith’s sixth Virginia location.

The 24,000-square-foot store at 2000 Old Brick Road will fit in nicely with existing outdoor retailer REI, who opened a store in the mixed use development in 2009.

The store will also share space with GolfTEC, a golf lesson company with 170 locations internationally. The company provides professional golf lessons and swing evaluations, among other services.

The evaluations, provided by one of the company’s “Certified Personal Coaches,” start at $125 and include video playback for instant feedback to improve customers’ golf games, according to the company’s website.
