Paul Goldman, candidate for mayor, says that the Wilder-backed Echo Harbour marina project is not in the best long-term interests of the city, and that he will oppose it. The candidate also says that backers of the marina project “have left many important fiscal and other questions either unanswered or incompletely answered”. [via email]

“I oppose the proposed Echo Harbour project, and I will not support it” he added.

In a statement, Goldman continued:

“As for those who have proposed what is generally known as the Marina project, I believe they have left many important fiscal and other questions either unanswered or incompletely answered in terms. As I said in developing the basic planks of the fiscal plan that was used, after the others had failed, to modernize the Carpenter Center as the lynchpin of a downtown Arts Center, there are a mandatory set of fiscal and other questions which must be answered in a way that provides full transparency and understanding to citizens of the community.”

“We need to turn the page and move away from the old politics.”
