Gas line rupture forces closure of Westbury Shopping Center

14 dialysis patients evacuated to nearby facility for continuation of treatment.

A ruptured gas line forced the closure of the Westbury Shopping Center Thursday morning. Around 10:20 AM, Henrico emergency dispatchers received a call for service regarding the smell of natural gas from the DaVita dialysis center, located within the shopping center at 8813 Three Chopt Road.

14 patients who were undergoing dialysis treatment were evacuated and then transported to another nearby facility.

Gas service has been suspended and no restoration time was given at press time.
