WHAT DOES YOUR START-UP BUSINESS DO?

G33K3D Industries [pronounced Geeked] is an organization that looks for opportunities to improve the world for the gaming, anime, and cosplay communities. The service we are launching is G33K3D Online. G33K3D Online is a web and mobile app that allows gamers to auction off their unused game items and currency to other players for a cash based credit so that they are able to purchase other items they want in the game of their choosing. Think Gamestop for in-app purchases.

HOW DID YOUR VENTURE START?

G33K3D Industries started as a class project for my New Venture Strategy course at VCU. The original concept was a gaming cosplay and anime bar to give “geeks” a place to go and be themselves. However, we kept thinking. What else could we do? How could we make a bigger impact? Finally, through lots of brainstorming and research, the G33K3D Online model was born. With G33K3D Online we can help gamers of all levels not only in Richmond but around the world.

HOW WILL YOU USE THE $10,000 CASH PRIZE TO HELP YOUR START-UP?

We are as much interested in the $3,500 in IT support and the six month of office space as we are in the $10K cash prize. We will use the $10K to begin hiring employees and to continue development of the G33K3D Online app. We will use the $3,500 in IT support and the six months of office space to help push G33K3D Online to the beta test phase.
