On June 7, a group gathered at Swan Lake in Byrd Park to recognize Sharon Hill, a member of the Friends of William Byrd Park, and dedicate a new park display case installed by Richmond’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities.
The display provides pictures and information on the variety of birds that can be seen in the park. Hill developed the information for the display with the help of Richmond’s Audubon Society using photographs provided by Bob Schamerhorn, who chairs the society’s Education Committee.
J.R. Pope, director of Richmond’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities commented at the dedication, “This illustrates what we can accomplish when three organizations work together.”
