If you are interested in obtaining free meals for children participating in a summer program you will be offering this year, call Richmond’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities today at 646-5698.
Through its Summer Meals 4 Kids Program, the department provides hundreds of thousands of free meals for children throughout the Richmond area every summer.
The program is offered in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to provide nutritious meals to children while they are not in school. In the summer of 2007, the department delivered more than 308,000 free meals to children participating in a wide variety of summer programs at 121 sites throughout the Richmond area.
Participation in the program is free, and you can elect to offer the children in your summer programs a free breakfast, a free lunch, a free supper, a free breakfast and lunch, or a free breakfast and supper, whichever you choose. From summer camps, to vacation Bible schools, to one-day events, it doesn’t matter what type of program you offer as long at it serves children ages 1 to 18.
For more information, please call 646-5698 today. The deadline to enroll is March 14.
