1) Tuesday, November 4th – MS Word: Quick Movement, Tables & Imports

12:30pm-4:30pm, Hopewell Public Library, Quiet Computer Lab, 209 East Cawson Street, 23860, with Kathy Surles. Refine your MS Word efficiency by mastering Quick Movement navigational skills and organizing information in easily readable tables by using formulas, adding new data, resizing or deleting rows and columns, and incorporating professional formatting. Also learn to import MS Excel and MS Access tables into Word documents. $45 includes light refreshments and covers the cost of a comprehensive MS Word instruction manual.

2) Saturday, November 8th – Using the Southside Virginia Nonprofit Resource Center and the Public Library

10:30am-1:30pm, Hopewell Public Library, 209 East Cawson Street, 23860, with Chuck Koutnik. Nonprofit board, staff, and volunteers will learn the many resources available at the SVNRC and the public library, including information on starting nonprofits, grant writing techniques, identifying grantmakers, managing personnel, working with boards, legal issues, and much more. FREE!

3) Monday, November 10th – Improve Fundraising with a Case for Support

1pm-4pm, Harrowgate Elementary School, 15501 Harrowgate Road, Chester, 23831, with Heath Lee. Anyone involved in telling the story of their organization benefits from learning the elements of a successful case statement. This workshop provides students with a “road map” for creating this document that can be used and modified based on fundraising focus – from annual appeals to grants and capital campaigns.

Each attendee will learn to create a basic framework for his/her own organization’s case statement document. $20 includes light refreshments.

4) Saturday, November 15th – Strategic Planning: The Planning Framework

12pm-3pm, Hopewell Public Library, Community Meeting Room, 209 East Cawson Street, 23860, with Gail Merridew. The agency has decided to conduct a strategic planning process and the preliminary decisions related to date, time, scope, facilitation, food, and venue have been made. Now the real work begins! This workshop, the second in a 3-part series, presents the nonprofit lifecycle model as a framework for conducting a strategic planning initiative and addresses the questions and issues board and senior staff members might discuss as they plan the agency’s future. $20 includes light refreshments.

5) Wednesday, November 19th – Using Statistics for Fundraising & Evaluation

9am-12pm, The Cameron Foundation, 24 West Old Street, Petersburg, 23803, with Jess Fowler. Nonprofits are first and foremost businesses and all businesses have a major challenge in using the
correct techniques to gather, store, and use data about their customers to their competitive advantage. This non-technical class for managers and support staff will examine natural, inexpensive, and efficient processes that are used to transform statistics into usable business
intelligence and how to apply them for enhanced evaluation and fundraising. $20 includes light refreshments.

For planning purposes, pre-registration is strongly encouraged; however, walk-in registrants are always welcome. To read a description about each of these sessions/instructors and/or to obtain registration forms, go to The Cameron Foundation’s website, www.thecameronfoundation.org
