Lakeside’s popular gift shop and eatery, Feathernesters, has something for everyone in its recently updated events calendar:

Saturday, September: Annual Brunswick Stew Day (all day long) – Enjoy the smell of a wood fire and the great taste of homemade Brunswick Stew simmering in an antique cast iron pot! We start the stew in the outdoor patio area in front of the store at 7 am so it’ll be ready for lunch. Enjoy it in the tearoom by the bowl or take home a quart.

Saturday, September 27: Autumn Pancake Breakfast (8:00 until 11:00am) – Enjoy all-you-can-eat pumpkin pancakes, warm syrup, country sausage, cinnamon apples and a beverage for only $7.50! Bring the whole family as we celebrate Autumn at Feathernesters!

Friday, October 24: “Witch’s Night Out” Party at Feathernesters (6:00 until 9:00pm) – Put on your very best witch hat and join us for a fun and frightening night out here in the store to celebrate Halloween! Come dressed as a good or wicked witch, or warlock and enjoy gruesome goodies, diabolical desserts, and ludicrous libations! Special sales, door prizes, surprises and great fun all night long!

Saturday, October 25: Hobgoblins Halloween Tea Party (3:00pm) – Join us in the Tea Room for a gruesomely good time as we celebrate the fun side of Halloween. Our tea party will feature dreadfully delicious treats, lady finger sandwiches and more. Enjoy a game or two and a homemade table favor to take home.

Friday, November 14: Our Annual Christmas Open House (5:00 until 9:00pm) – Join us in the Tea Room for a gruesomely good time as we celebrate the fun side of Halloween. Our tea party will feature dreadfully delicious treats, lady finger sandwiches and more. Enjoy a game or two and a homemade table favor to take home.

Sunday, December 7, and Sunday, December 14: “Memories of Miller & Rhoads” Santa Claus Tea Party (1st Seating: 12 noon until 2:00pm. 2nd Seating: 2:30 until 4:30pm.) – Join us once again this year as we present our Santa Claus Tea Party featuring the jolly old elf himself from Richmond’s famous department store! Visit with Snow Queen, the elves, and Snow Bear too for a memorable afternoon. Enjoy photos with Santa, Reindeer Cake, and other nostalgic memories from Christmases past…

Saturday, December 13, and Saturday, December 20: “A Cup of Christmas Tea” Tea Party (3:00 pm) – Enjoy a lovely traditional Afternoon Tea Party in our Tea Room beautifully decorated for Christmas. You will be treated to steaming pots of hot tea (or your beverage choice) along with homemade scones and lemon butter, tea breads, finger sandwiches, fresh fruit, and an assortment of delicious mini desserts. Guests will be entertained by a short program featuring Christmas lore and legend and holiday trivia. Each guest will receive a special homemade table favor. A lovely Christmas tradition!

Tuesday, December 16: A “Who-Ville” Christmas Feast (11:30am until 1:00pm) – Travel with us to the magical place called “Who-Ville” and celebrate the whimsy of a Dr. Seuss Christmas! Feast on “Roast Beast” and other fun delicious items from the classic book at our popular annual holiday dinner where the theme changes each year! There is a special surprise for those guests who wear their most creative “Who Hat” or costume!
