Do you have the cutest, fluffy family member in Richmond?

Calling all furball owners.

A good number of pet owners are similar to parents in that they believe their little precious is the most perfect snowflake, even when that precious little creature is gnawing on a favorite body part. Now all those folks that think their pet is the best can battle it out with other pet owners in the Number #1 Dog/Cat Annual contest to be held by RACC.

The City of Richmond’s Animal Care & Control (RACC) is on a mission to find the Number #1 dog and cat in RVA. RACC is launching the Number #1 dog/cat annual contest in an effort to raise awareness that City residents are required to license their pets.

To enter you must be a resident of the City of Richmond, submit a photo of your pet and provide a short paragraph of why you feel he or she should be the Number #1 dog or cat in Richmond. A panel of judges will vote on the entries and the winner will receive the Number #1 dog and cat license tag for 2015. Additionally, we will showcase the selected pets’ photo on the new 2015 license brochure that will be mailed out to 60,000 city residents in November.

Entries should be emailed to socialmediaanimalcontrol@richmondgov.com or mailed to Attn: Richard Stewart, 1600 Chamberlayne Avenue, Richmond, VA 23222, by Friday, October 10. The winner will be announced on Monday, October 13. Families with multiple animals may submit an entry per pet.

We are hoping to be flooded with entries and looking forward to reading the stories that showcase how much people love their pets!

Good Luck!!
