The acrobatic show Diavolo comes to the Modlin Center at the University of Richmond this weekend. Tickets are affordable, and what a treat to have such great performers right in the Near West End. Friday night’s show is almost sold out so if your on the fence, buy your tickets now. The show is repeated on Saturday night.

The dancers-actors-gymnasts of Diavolo have developed a movement vocabulary that creates an almost cinematic experience, constructing powerful storied images with broad strokes of the human experience. Company members are always teammates, collaborating on and around outrageous, surrealistic sets and structures. Everyday items like doors, chairs and stairways provide the backdrop for dramatic movement—leaping, flying, twirling—to create metaphors for the challenge of relationships, the absurdities of life and the struggle to maintain our humanity in an increasingly technological world.
