The January 26 agenda for City Council has a few consent agenda items of interest to residents concerned about the city’s tree removal policy (including funding for new trees on MacArthur Avenue) — and a regular agenda item submitted by 3rd District representative Chris Hilbert to prohibit the construction of a proposed roundabout at the intersection of Laburnum Avenue and Hermitage Road:

Consent Agenda
Ord. No. 2008-312 (Patron: Mr. Hilbert) – To amend Ord. No. 2008-239-234, *** which imposed a moratorium on the removal of trees *** for the purpose of establishing a deadline by which the City’s Administration shall submit a report on the same to the City Council.

Ord. No. 2009-1 (Patron: Mr. Tyler) – To amend the Code *** for the purpose of reflecting the transfer of urban forestry functions from the Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities to the Department of Public Works.

Res. No. 2009-R10 (Patron: Mr. Hilbert) – To approve an expenditure *** of $1,100 from the Council Districts Funds for the Third District to pay the City of Richmond, Department of Public Works for placing six trees in the MacArthur Merchants Area.
