The Historic Petersburg Foundation (HPF), the City of Petersburg and Pamplin Historical Park and The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier are sponsoring a free presentation on the most recent book on the American Civil War by noted Civil War historian, A. Wilson Greene. Entitled Civil War Petersburg: Confederate City in the Crucible of War, the book tracks both Petersburg’s civilian experience and the city’s place in Confederate military strategy and administration. It is the winner of the 2007 Laney Prize for distinguished scholarship and writing on the American Civil War.
