Richmond’s school system is looking for public input on its ideas for the former A.V. Norrell Elementary School on West Graham Road near Battery Park, according to the Times-Dispatch:

Beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday, school officials will be at the building at 201 W. Graham Road to hear public comments.

Administrators are proposing several uses for the North Side building, which closed after it was damaged by flooding early in the 2006-07 school year.

The biggest impact on the neighborhood would be using the building as a warehouse.

Under that plan, Norrell also could become home to the schools’ driver-education program, complete with an on-site course.

When the ideas were raised in a School Board committee meeting in late August, there was some objection because of the possible increase in truck traffic from maintenance workers, who would use the warehouse to store routine maintenance items. School officials estimated that possibly 12 to 15 trucks would enter and leave the area per day.
