City Council delays Boulevard redevelopment proposals pending hospital outcome
Richmond City Council remains hopeful on the prospect of a free-standing childrens’ hospital and wants to keep the land open–for now, at least.
The city of Richmond won’t be seeking Boulevard development proposals for at least a few months, after advocates for an independent children’s hospital convinced the City Council to keep the land available for the hospital effort.
A resolution that would ask the administration of Mayor Dwight C. Jones to issue a request for qualifications (RFQ) from prospective Boulevard developers seemed to be headed for easy approval Monday. But the council chose to continue the matter until late July after hearing from a dozen or so pediatricians and hospital supporters.
