The Jefferson Hotel, Richmond’s most grandiose landmark that rests on the outskirts of the (currently) grandly illuminated downtown, offers its own beautiful take on Christmas decorations. Children won’t be the only ones excited to see the displays of Christmas magic that the Jefferson offers, so even the scroogiest should be prepared for a breathtaking array of poinsettias, white lights, and Christmas trees scattered around the rotunda, staircases, and foyer. The famous 26-foot tree centered in the rotunda welcomes anyone who is browsing the gift shop to check off their fancy Christmas lists, or coming in from the Main Street side entrance. New this year is a gingerbread steam engine, complete with colorful candies, loads of icing, and gumdrops. The only bad part is you can’t eat it, but nicely observe from afar–don’t forget, you’re still at the Jefferson.
