Chesterfield County Police Department Offering Entrance Exam

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, VA – The Chesterfield County Police Department will offer its police officer entrance exam on Saturday, Feb. 21, beginning at 7:45 a.m. The exam will be held at the Eanes-Pittman Public Safety Training Center, 6610 Public Safety Way (in the Chesterfield County government complex). The exam is for people who are interested in careers in law enforcement with the Chesterfield County Police Department. In addition to a written test, participants will be tested on physical agility, including a 1.5-mile run, sit-ups and push-ups. This will be the final entrance exam for the June academy. Anyone interested in taking the entrance exam is encouraged to go online to www.chesterfieldpd.com and complete an application prior to the exam date. The starting salary for a police officer in Chesterfield County is $39,000. Benefits include a take-home-car program, career-development program, fully paid training, pension plan with the Virginia Retirement System, and furnished uniform and equipment. Preliminary qualifications to be a police officer include being a U.S. citizen, being 21 years old prior to the completion of the training academy, and having at least three years of stable employment or 60 college credits, or two years of either active-duty military or law-enforcement service.
