Carytown Burgers and Fries opening second location in Short Pump

Owner Mike Barber’s West End location is expected to open in January.

Yet another Carytown burger joint is making the trek out west.

Following on the heels of Burger Bach’s expansion to West Broad Village, Carytown Burgers and Fries is opening a second location, this one at Towne Center West, adjacent to Short Pump Town Center.

The popular local burger joint has taken home a number of ‘Best Of’ awards from the likes of Richmond.com, Richmond Magazine, Citysearch and AOL since their doors first opened in 1999.

“From the beginning, the whole goal of Carytown Burgers and Fries was to start a franchise,” owner Mike Barber said. “We always expected to have multiple locations; we just wouldn’t get involved until the foundation was where we needed it to be.”

Barber also owns a catering operation affiliated with his business in the Lakeside area.

He says his target opening date for the Short Pump location is January 1st, 2015. The forthcoming restaurant’s menu will mirror that of the original location.
