A woman wanted by Richmond Police for a bank robbery yesterday is in custody.

LaToya Lamar Hewlett, 28, of the 900 block of Hill Top Drive is charged with robbery and was scheduled to be arraigned this morning. She turned herself in to Richmond Police last night.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m. Oct. 16 a female entered the SunTrust bank at 3513 W. Cary St. and handed a teller a note demanding money. A weapon was not displayed.

After Hewlett’s photo was broadcast by local media, Richmond Police received information from Crime Stoppers callers, leading to her arrest.

“Thanks to the combined community efforts of the media and our citizens, we had this suspect in custody within 24 hours of the crime,” said Interim Chief David McCoy.
